From Biz Markie, Happy 56th Birthday, to Buzz Aldrin, Featuring Betty Who and LaToya London: My Crazy Week

Tho piece was first published on 6/28/2014. I am republishing it today, 4/8/2020 in honor of Biz’s 56th birthday.

My week started out on Sunday with a hundred mile drive from Monterey, California to San Francisco to participate in the AIDS Walk. Since I had to be there by 8 a.m. for the Star Walker’s Breakfast, because I raised more than $1,000, I left at 6 a.m.

The walk was 6.2 miles although I ended up logging more than 11 miles for the day. Internet singing sensation Betty Who performed at the closing ceremonies.

That afternoon I visited my mother-in-law in a nursing facility and met my brother-in-law, less than 24 hours before I was eating in another brother-in-law’s restaurant for the second time in two days.

Monday night I spent with my 13-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son. My son couldn’t sleep, he said he had been “haunted” for three days by something in the game Minecraft (he couldn’t find his house) that I don’t understand.
