Born Louis Eugene Walcott 5/11/1933 New York City, The Bronx.
His mother was born in Saint Kitts, his father in Jamaica.
In 1946 he was one of the first Black performers on the “Ted Mack Original Amateur Hour”. He played the violin.
He was a singer in the 1950s with nicknames “Calypso Gene” and “The Charmer”.
He is the leader of the Nation of Islam (N.O.I.)
In 1995 he organized the Million Man March.
In 2010 he embraced Dianetics.
He has nine children.
