I read and article in salon.com the headline was Trump to Puerto Rico You’ve “thrown our budget a little out of whack”
I prefaced my facebook post with the following commentary:
“DEPLORABLE: To tell children, families senior citizens, the poor and injured that they have “thrown our budget out of whack” is disgusting. It IS DJT’ job to address the needs of every citizen, including territories. BTW “our” budget is PR’s budget. Ancient of Days deliver us from this hateful oppressive administration. God have mercy.”
Received the following commentary in response from Eric Sage: “He was saying it in good humor. Then he said it was okay and worth it . What if it did and he was making a point. With what happened in Vegas let’s not focus our attention on silly things the POTUS says to PR”
and then I responded:
“there is NO HUMOR in human suffering in the eyes of God or any person who values compassion, empathy and real love in their heart. It is shameful and despicable that any leader would abdicate their responsibility for the very same people they took an oath to protect.
It is inconceivable to me how any person of color could stand in defense of the bigotry, white supremacy, sexism, homophobia, transphobia and racism we have witnessed in our nation – more so now than in recent history.
But let’s be clear. Simply because one is a person of color doesn’t not mean they empathize with people of color. From such individuals, like I’ve heard from you – they say they are “ Americans” above all else.
This affirms to me that what is equally egregious as racism is internalized racism.
Until such that time we meet the needs of those in greatest need among us – we will be a nation bereft of compassion, true humanity and equality.
May God have mercy on all of us and change us (Including myself) to be more loving.”
