Sammy Davis Jr. discovered her and cast her in Golden Boy on Broadway in 1964.

Sammy also cast her in her first film role in 1966.

A.K.A. Black Venus.

First black woman to model for a line of cosmetics not exclusively for blacks, in Faberge’s Tigress perfume ads.

Once the highest paid female performer in Las Vegas.

She won a minority stake in the the New York Mets playing baccarat and sold it in 1988 for $14 million dollars.

Married and divorced.

She has had several bouts with multiple sclerosis and recovered.

She converted to Catholicism and devotes her life to religion.
