Xernona Clayton 8/30/1930 Muskogee, OK.

Preacher’s kid.

Has a twin sister.

Civil rights leader, broadcasting executive, tv host, and author.

Worked for the National Urban League, Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and Turner Broadcasting.

First black from the southern U.S. to host a daily prime talk show in 1974,

In 1993 created the Trumpet Awards to honor achievements of blacks.

The Mattel Toy Company created a Xernona Clayton Barbie doll to honor her in 2004.

Married twice, widowed, two children from her second husband’s first marriage.

Peace, love, joy, gratitude, faith, courage, compassion, and blessings.
