Oakland–I was in San Francisco many times but I never had the chance to be in Oakland. Well, here I am. And here I am walking along the streets of a beautiful city, seeing people. Greeting people even if you do not know who they are. People of different color, different religion perhaps, even different sexual orientations but all of them or all of us I should say with something in common: the same rights, the same right to be free, to be respected.
Hearing the cars pass by, the birds sing reminded me of the last time I was in San Francisco doing the same things I am doing today but with my friend Jerry.Today I am spending the day with my brother-in-law MacArthur, then Lake Merritt. I thought it was natural but then my brother-in -law told me it is man-made. Anyway, natural or not it is a nice place to see.
We had a wonderful lunch and then went home. There was my sister Akilah waiting for me to help her.
I felt so exited when she told me I was going to help her with her third book. I do not say this because she is my sister but It is an honor for me to be part of this project, A project that cost her research, time, and sometimes sleep.
Time to finish and start working. I hope you enjoy these lines.
