Oakland–There are some celebrations we are used to and some which are new to us. Today I will be celebrating my first Kwanzaa and I am very exited about it. It is not a gathering to dance and sing. it is a gathering to celebrate unity to celebrate family. My sister Akilah has already introduced me to Kwanzaa and I am already practicing the pronunciation of Habari Gani. I know there are going to be people I will meet for the first time. People who do not know who I am. Some even will be surprised that Akilah has this brother who has just arrived from Peru but what I do know for sure is that all of us will have a great time and regardless our age, place of birth or whatever we will celebrate unity and family in one word…..KWANZAA.
