#BlackinScandinavia: “10 Things I learned about Pop House”

I am an ABBA fan, who isn’t.  When I was here in October, I was obsessed with getting to ABBA the Museum located in Pop House.  So much so that I didn’t notice the other exhibits there.  So here are 10 things I learned about Pop House:

  1.  It’s located on the island of Djurgarden, there is a ferry stop.
  2.  It houses ABBA the Museum, the Swedish Music Hall of Fame, and the Swedish Pop Music History exhibitions.
  3. GOOD EVENING EUROPE!/Eurovision Song Contest is not derived from Good Morning Vietnam as I originally thought.
  4. Pop House Hotel has 49 rooms with wi fi.  Thanks to Pop House Hotel and Helena Mattsson for the complimentary stay and admission to ABBA the museum.
  5. Stockholm Writing Camp houses 45 “up and coming” song writers to a camp over several days and they stay at the Pop House Hotel.
  6.  GOOD EVENING EUROPE! at 60 years is the longest running annual television competition.
  7. ABBA and Celine Dion won the GOOD EVENING EUROPE! competition in1974 and 1988 respectively.
  8.   There is a gift shop in Pop House.
  9.   There is a restaurant and bar at Pop House, breakfast is included when you stay at the hotel.
  10.  One can audition to be the fifth member of ABBA and get a link to the recording.  My audition is below:
