So it turns out that I know a lot of twins, not just the identical cousins on the Patty Duke Show.
I grew up in Huntsville, Alabama on a dead-end street named Lydia Drive. I think my family moved there in 1965 and our one street subdivision was segregated, all black. It was affluent, upper middle class.
My dad was an electronic engineer at IBM. We had 4 ministers on the street, a dentist, school teachers and other professionals.
My best friend was Gloria Lindsay, her father was a Seventh Day Adventist minister.
Reverend Lindsay and his family moved out and in 1968 Dr. Hereford and his family moved in. I was good friends with the older Hereford kids, Sonnie and Kim.
I was fascinated with the family, Dr. Hereford was a medical doctor and his wife, a nurse. They had twins born on February 10, 1968, Linda and Brenda.
So, I have known them all their lives.
They say they have always gotten along and did everything together. They talk daily and live in separate cities now, one in Baltimore, the other near Nashville, Tennessee. One is a social worker, the other a nurse.
The twins as they were known say that I last saw them in 1999 when I was in Huntsville and I was trying to help them get tickets for a Prince concert.
Thanks to Facebook, we can keep in touch.
Peace, love, gratitude, compassion and blessings.
